Description
See Venice like you have never seen it before. Learn the history, anecdotes and secrets of this beautiful city built on islands. These walking tours of Venice are designed to show you off the beaten path areas – a great relief in a touristy city like Venice – and make you experience Venice like a true Venetian.
Secret Venice:
Enjoyable walk through history, curiosities and traditions of Venice. The walk will take you to three different districts of Venice. You will start with a visit at the church of San Zan Decolla’ built in 5th century and with beautiful 13th century frescos. Then will walk on to the magnificent Jesuits Baroque church where paintings by Tintoretto and Tiziano will take your breath away. The tour will end with a visit at the private garden of the noble family Contarini Dal Zaffo that overlooks the Northern lagoon with its main islands. Transfers from one district to the next will be on a ferry-gondola – the boat used by real Venetians.
Through history and ‘happy hours’ in Venice:
Take a walk in the Rialto and Cannareggio district, the two most lively areas of Venice and fully immerse yourself in day-to-day life in Venice. See the chirping markets and walk to the Jewish district, the only area with high rise buildings (at least for Venice…). Then admire the islands of the Northern lagoon from the private garden of the noble Contarini Dal Zaffo villa. This visit will end in the typical wineries of Venice where you will taste the authentic finger food of Venice (cicchetti) while enjoying a glass of wine.
The Venice of Casanova:
Walk the steps and learn about the life of the famous ‘Latin lover’ from Venice and its time. You will visit Palazzo Moncenigo – the palatial house of a noble family of Casanova’s times with its collection of original clothes from that era. Then spend time in an antique mask store to learn everything about the tradition of Carnival in Venice and its influences on Casanova’s life and adventures.e.
Glasses and laces of Venice:
The precious Murano glass has been one of the most sought after artifacts of Venice since 1400. In this guided sailing tour, you will visit a glass factory in Murano. Next stop will be the island of Burano famous for its colorful fishermen houses and hand made precious laces. A visit to the island of Torcello, the first settlement in the lagoon and the favorite island of Ernest Hemingway. Here you will walk inside the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta famous for its mosaics from 12th and 13th century.
Testimonials
- The tours [of Venice] have been GREAT! P.P., Gilbert, AZ July, 2006
- We just arrived back. We had a wonderful time. The venice tourguide was very good. Just the morning with her really set us in motion! Rome tour guide was excellent. He really knew how to work with the kids. He was patient, and funny. Lent us books to look at things after the tours, etc.
Vatican was fantastic. Ancient Rome was very good.
Thanks again for all your hard work and patience with us. I know we ask a lot of questions in our quest to "get it right", but thanks for answering everything and providing great guides!
Feel free to use me for any recommendations!

- Also, Speaking of Venice, our guide was wonderful. She is a lovely woman and went out of her way to show us beautiful and interesting sights on our walking tour. She got us into San Marco at just the right time to catch the perfect light and while walking on all the narrow passageways, found us a small mask factory with the craftsman working in the window!
